Z2 is a successor to ZZT developed by Carlos DaSilva, initially called ZZT2 but renamed upon Tim Sweeney's request. The final release, 0.61 Beta, was released in October 1996.

It is notable for being a tile-based, not text-based, attempt at a ZZT successor which nonetheless shares a clear design lineage.

  • The Museum of ZZT copy is missing some files (default object definitions, tutorial world, fonts) from the official release. Some replacements are provided, which help make the experience more complete:
