ZZT game world licenses

This is a list of ZZT game worlds which permit at the very least free redistribution, split into a few categories:

  • Free cultural works - games which satisfy the criteria of “free culture”; for example, works under the MIT license, or CC BY/BY-SA licenses.
  • Freely redistributable - games which have clear language signifying that they may be freely distributed,
  • Non-commercial - games which have clear language signifying that they may be freely distributed for non-commercial purposes.
  • Controversial - games which satisfy one of the above categories, but have some objections preventing their free redistribution.

The list is made with the intent of making people confident in the inclusion of them as part of software repositories and other such projects; as such, fangames and games with otherwise unauthorized references must be marked appropriately.

This list may become deprecated anyway, if the Museum of ZZT implements a License: field.

I agree with what you are saying, and I am not disputing it.

Rather, I am saying that if someone might want to produce a modified version which gets rid of the unauthorized references in order that they can include them in software repositories and other such projects, I am willing to help with any questions someone has about the game if necessary (or maybe I will even do it myself later on; I don't know). One thing is knowing what to replace it with; other is to find anything else including minor things that might be worth correcting.
