ZZT game world licenses

This is a list of ZZT game worlds which permit at the very least free redistribution, split into a few categories:

  • Free cultural works - games which satisfy the criteria of “free culture”; for example, works under the MIT license, or CC BY/BY-SA licenses.
  • Freely redistributable - games which have clear language signifying that they may be freely distributed,
  • Non-commercial - games which have clear language signifying that they may be freely distributed for non-commercial purposes.
  • Controversial - games which satisfy one of the above categories, but have some objections preventing their free redistribution.

Game of XYZABCDE – licensing issues (<1625034661.bystand@zzo38computer.org>; HTTP view)

The list is made with the intent of making people confident in the inclusion of them as part of software repositories and other such projects; as such, fangames and games with otherwise unauthorized references must be marked appropriately.

This list may become deprecated anyway, if the Museum of ZZT implements a License: field.

I agree with what you are saying, and I am not disputing it.

Rather, I am saying that if someone might want to produce a modified version which gets rid of the unauthorized references in order that they can include them in software repositories and other such projects, I am willing to help with any questions someone has about the game if necessary (or maybe I will even do it myself later on; I don't know). One thing is knowing what to replace it with; other is to find anything else including minor things that might be worth correcting.
