Z2 is a successor to ZZT developed by Carlos DaSilva, initially called ZZT2 but renamed upon Tim Sweeney's request. The final binary release, 0.61 Beta, was released in October 1996; in addition, a later source code dump from February 28th, 1997 was made available.
It is notable for being a tile-based, not text-based, attempt at a ZZT successor which nonetheless shares a clear design lineage.
